What should I do first when a circuit breaker trips in my home?

First, turn the tripped breaker fully OFF, unplug or switch off devices on that circuit, then flip the breaker firmly back ON. If it trips again, stop and call a licensed electrician. We troubleshoot recurring trips in Columbus, Dublin, and nearby.

Quick checks:

  • Find the breaker with the handle between ON/OFF.
  • Unplug loads and look for heat, odor, or damage.
  • Reset once: full OFF, then ON.
  • Frequent trips signal a wiring or overload issue.
