Why Is My AC Running But Not Cooling Properly?

Your AC can run but not cool when airflow, refrigerant, or control issues are present. Common causes include a clogged air filter, dirty outdoor condenser, incorrect thermostat settings, a frozen evaporator from low refrigerant, or a blocked drain that trips a safety switch. We offer on-site diagnosis and same-day AC repair.

Quick checks:

  • Set thermostat to Cool and lower the setpoint.
  • Replace a dirty 1" filter.
  • Clear debris from the outdoor condenser.
  • Open supply and return vents.
  • Look for ice on the indoor coil; if iced, turn system Off and fan On.
