Why Is My Heat Pump Running But Not Cooling Properly?

Most often, a heat pump runs but doesn’t cool because of airflow restrictions, low refrigerant charge, or a control issue. Berkeys diagnoses all brands, checks refrigerant pressures, inspects coils, and verifies ductwork/thermostat setup. We also service ductless mini-splits. If needed, we replace components like reversing valves or fans and handle permits/inspections where required. In Plano and across DFW, we offer 24/7 emergency repair and BAM! tune-ups to prevent breakdowns.

Quick checks:

  • Set thermostat to Cool and lower the setpoint 3–5°F.
  • Replace a dirty filter.
  • Make sure outdoor unit is clear of debris.
