Answers to Common Questions
View All FAQsWhy Is My Water Heater Not Heating Up Despite Resetting the Button?
Resetting often doesn’t fix the root problem. Electric units often have a failed heating element or thermostat. Gas units may have a bad thermocouple or igniter, or the gas supply is off. Heavy limescale or sediment can also limit heating. Tankless heaters may show an error code, have a clogged inlet filter, or lack adequate gas flow. We service gas and electric, tank and tankless systems. Serving Dallas-area homes.
Quick checks:
- Confirm breaker or gas shutoff is on.
- Verify power switch.
- For gas, check pilot/ignition.
- Note any error code.

Quick steps:
- Turn off electricity or set gas to OFF
- Close the cold-water inlet valve
- Place a bucket/towels; do not remove panels
- Call for same-day service

- Turn off the cold-water valve to the heater.

One of the most common causes of water heater failure is limescale buildup. Mineral scale restricts flow, reduces heating efficiency, and can lead to early breakdowns. We recommend installing a Flow-Tech Water De-Scaling unit with your water heater to prevent limescale and avoid problems down the road. The system is virtually maintenance-free and only requires power. We serve homes across the area, including Plano, TX.

Start with simple checks. Make sure power is on to the unit or the breaker isn’t tripped. For gas, confirm the pilot is lit. Verify the thermostat setting. Press the heater’s reset button if present. For tankless units, look for an error code and clean inlet filters. If you see leaks, rust, or repeated resets, it’s time for service. You can try, but we don’t recommend DIY water-heater installation. It involves gas or high-voltage electric connections, venting, and safety components that must meet local codes and manufacturer guidelines to protect the warranty. Our licensed, background-checked technicians install tank or tankless units correctly and safely, and we offer 24/7 emergency response in Dallas–Fort Worth (e.g., Dallas, Plano, Garland). We also handle related gas line or repiping work as needed.
Quick checks if you’re considering DIY:
- Confirm fuel type and power requirements.
- Verify venting and T&P relief setup.
- Review manufacturer instructions and local codes.

You can, but we don’t recommend DIY water-heater installs. Safe, correct installation must follow manufacturer guidelines and local safety codes to protect warranties. Gas and venting work, electrical connections, and proper drain/pan setup require a licensed plumber. Our team installs tank and tankless units, handles gas line and venting needs, and performs code-compliant setups. We can also add a Flow-Tech Water De-Scaling unit to reduce limescale and help extend system life. We serve Frisco and the DFW area.
